Firefighters continue to combat the Gold Complex, which consists of the Mill and Smith Fires, amid challenging conditions. As of this morning’s update, the fires have collectively burned 3,007 acres, with the Mill Fire accounting for 2,962 acres and the Smith Fire burning 45 acres.

Operational Update-
Smith Fire: Crews successfully held the line around the Smith Fire overnight. They remain vigilant today to combat any flare-ups due to wind.
Mill Fire: Despite the containment lines holding, the Mill Fire remains a significant challenge. Crews are focused on addressing hotspots and unburned pockets within containment lines. Today’s efforts include strengthening the lines and extinguishing any areas that may reignite due to forecasted increased winds. Slightly cooler weather is expected to persist into the weekend. However, increasing wind speeds may pose additional challenges for firefighting efforts.
