Wearing a GPS tracking bracelet, the Modoc County Sheriff, Tex Dowdy, says a fugitive out of Alturas has been released from Custody.
Ricardo Quezada was just picked up on warrants for his arrest in Sonoma County in connection with a string of burglaries and car theft out of Modoc and had been on the run since February. His accomplice was apprehended in Texas just weeks after the crimes were discovered and were connected to the pair. Sheriff Dowdy says Quezada has an extensive criminal history dating back to 1999, including multiple drug charges, theft, burglary, probation, and parole violations, and four failures to appear in court.
Those in the community are voicing their disappointment in the judicial system for allowing his release and Quezada’s risk to the community.
