Former Plumas County Sheriff Passing Announced

The Plumas Sheriff’s Office has announced the loss of one of its own. Retired Plumas County Sheriff Donald E. Stoy has passed away. Sheriff Stoy was called a true pillar of the community in the announcement on social media. Stoy had dedicated his life to serving and protecting the people of Plumas County for over three decades.

He is remembered as a skilled law enforcement officer and a compassionate leader who cared deeply about the well-being of those he served.

Sheriff Todd Johns said, “It was a privilege working with Sheriff Stoy during his time as Sheriff, and I can attest to his professionalism, integrity, and dedication. He was a true public servant, always putting the needs of his community first.”

Johns concluded that Sheriff Stoy’s “legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the positive impact” he had on the community.
