Flash Flood Warnings as Tropical Storm Hilary to Impact NE CA

Tropical storm Hilary, reaching hurricane status, may bring flash flood warnings to NE California. The National Weather Service in Reno predicts a marginal risk that storm activity will bring downpours exceeding an inch of rainfall. Over burn scars, this heavy rain can produce slides and flooding as seen with this January storms.

The potential thunderstorms produced by tropical storm Hilary are expected in the region by Sunday, persisting through Tuesday. High temperatures will also be cooler by 10-15 degrees below normal.

Despite the risk of flooding, these wetting rains could bring welcoming relief to assist in firefighting efforts as wildfire season kicks off to a late start across the state.
