Feather River College announces that, in partnership with the North Far North Regional Consortium and Virtual Internships, it has launched a pilot program to connect students with remote career opportunities. “This partnership underscores our commitment to providing students with the skills and experiences necessary for career success,” said Kevin Trutna, FRC president and superintendent.

Virtual Internships bridges the gap between education and the workplace, offering students hands-on experience through internships with over 12,000 host companies across 18 career fields. The program is supported by coaching, training and a professional network.

Thanks to grant funding from the Feather River College Foundation, three students from the Workability III and CalWORKS programs are participating in the pilot internship program this spring. Organizers point out that the stipends provided ensure that financial barriers don’t limit students’ ability to take part, opening up career opportunities beyond geographic constraints.

Gabe Miller, who oversees the program, notes, “For students juggling busy academic schedules, this program opens doors to national and international virtual internships.”
