Faulty Electrical Sparked Fire in Mobile Home in Susanville

Faulty electrical was named the cause of the mobile home fire on Paiute Lane in Susanville this past Tuesday. The fire sparked around 1 pm in unit 4 of the home track.

Upon arrival, fire crews found the Mobile Home fully involved and quickly spreading into the neighboring home. As more responders arrived, crews discovered the fire had spread into the vegetation. Wildland resources were quickly called in for assistance. After the fire was extinguished, units started the salvage and overhaul process. During this, investigators discovered the fire had begun in the living room in the electrical lines.

One firefighter sustained a minor arm injury during the clean-up process though none of the home occupants were hurt.

Units from CalFire, Lassen National Forest, CDCR, Susan River, and Janesville Fire Protection District, the Susanville Police Department, Public Works, and LMUD assisted Susanville Fire with the incident.

The family in unit 2, whose home was a causality of the fire, has launched a goFund me account to assist with financial needs. Thier 13-year-old boy’s bedroom was completely burned when the fire spread to their unit. He needs new clothing and shoes, and the family of five is searching for a home to rent. The single woman in unit 4 has also completely lost all her belongings.
