Fatality of HWY 70 Near Mohawk Vista

Plumas County Search and Rescue reports a fatality on HWY 70. A single vehicle left the roadway embankment for unknown reasons just east of Mohawk Vista. Eastern Plumas Rural Fire Department, Graeagle Fire, the Plumas Co Sheriff’s Office, CHP, Eastern Plumas District Hospital, and Care Flight air ambulance were all dispatched to the crash due to its severity. The vehicle sustained major damage with two in the vehicle having to be transported to medical facilities. A third passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. No names of the victim have been released pending family notification.
