The pump track project approved for Memorial Park by the city has completed the bidding process for construction.

Crazy J’s Concrete Inc. came in as the lowest bidder, with a base bid of about 68,000 dollars. However, the city’s engineer’s estimate for the project was just under 50,000 dollars, making this bid nearly 27% higher than anticipated. While an additional $3,400 in direct project expenses for construction engineering is estimated, the total cost of the project is set to be over $71,000, though the funding already allotted to the city through the Per Capita Grant grant is $80,000 and will cover the entire project with no monies coming from the city’s general fund.

The city says any cost savings achieved through quantity adjustments or construction engineering will be used to explore further improvements through contract change orders.

The council will consider awarding the contract to Crazy J’s Wednesday. Meetings are open to the community and held at City Hall on S. Lassen street in Susanville. Doors open at 5pm.
