Congrats to LCC and FRC Atheletes With Big Wins for the Season

It was a great sports year for the area’s community colleges following two years of COVID restrictions and setbacks. Lassen community college’s Cougar baseball finished 29-16 and advanced to the NorCal Super Regionals where the team fought hard but was eliminated by Delta College. Also from LCC Raymond Mayo took home buckles as the 2021-2022 West Coast Region Bull Riding Champion. Ray will represent Lassen College Rodeo at this year’s College National Finals Rodeo in Casper Wyoming.

While Feather River College sports boasts several winning teams as well for this school year, taking home league championship titles and others competing for state titles. Significantly, k as they are known as the little college in the mountains, the beach volleyball team earned runner-up in the state tournament against SoCal and other coastal schools. The team made it to the championship game losing to Irvine Valley College. The college’s new rodeo coach Tess Turk was named NIRA Western Region Coach of the Year, with nine FRC student-athletes earning spots at the Collegiate National Finals Rodeo in Casper, WY next month as well.
