Caltrans Closes Richmond Rd 7/18 to 7/19 for Bass Mtn Mill & Fill Project

Late night and early morning commuters see Richmond Road closed now through tomorrow at 7 am. Access to Richmond Road from the State Route 36/U.S. 395 intersection in is in conjunction with the Cal-trans bass mountain project. During the next two days work will include grinding, placement of signal loops, and paving. Here is how you get around that. If you plan to travel east on 36 you can drive on South Weatherlow Street to Richmond Road. If you are traveling west on 36 you can drive Riverside Drive to Richmond Road. If you have a larger vehicle Caltrans say to stay on 395/36 and not use the local detours. There are Changeable message signs with detour information. The project will wrap up just north of the junction with SR 36, expected to be by the end of August.

Additionally, if you plan to travel into Redding on Hwy 44, today Caltrans expects to begin work on a culvert rehabilitation project in Shasta county. The project will provide culvert rehabilitation at seven culvert locations along the highway from about 2 miles west of South Cow Creek Road to about 2 miles east of Black Butte Road. You can plan on an additional 5 minutes for your travel time as there will be one-way traffic control through the weekdays during daytime hours.
