CALFIRE updated its Fire Hazard Severity Zones map and looking for your input. The map is a comprehensive map that ranks the state’s rural unincorporated areas based on the likelihood these locations will experience wildfire. This project has taken several years with collaborative efforts from fire scientists, firefighters, stakeholders, and local community partners and brings the map current to today’s conditions. The last update was over a decade ago in 2007.
Your input on the map is the first step in a two-month-long process before the final adoption of the map. Commenting begins today and will end on February 3rd, supported by 57 public hearings throughout the state. You can even begin interacting with the map by entering your address and exploring the area. Email comments can be sent to [email protected]; Lassen county’s public hearing will be held on 1/10/23 at 6:00 PM at the Lassen County Fairgrounds in Jensen Hall.
