Despite lifting burn bans last week, CALFIRE has issued a temporary burn suspension as of Sunday and will continue through tomorrow.
The pause is due to incoming weather with predicted winds gusting up to 30mph. The Lassen Modoc Unit says smoldering piles from previous allowed burn days can still contain enough heat to ignite receptive vegetation either through poor clearance around the pile or wind-lowing hot ash.
You are asked to ensure your burn piles are fully extinguished as the weather shifts.
