Be prepared to see smoke near Westwood today. CalFire will start a pile burn project on Sierra Pacific Industries’ land to create a larger fuel break. Officials say this is to protect the surrounding communities from wildfire better.
If you are in the areas of Clear Creek, Hamilton Branch, and Westwood, smoke will be visible; you are asked not to report it. Smoke will also be seen if driving along Highway 147.
The fuel break project is expected to continue throughout next week.
