CAL FIRE is bringing safety awareness to your Halloween celebrations by reminding you to be mindful of your costumes.

Officials say when it comes to how you dress up, you should choose costumes made of fire-resistant fabric and teach your children the importance of staying away from open flames, such as candles in jack-o’-lanterns while trick or treating or celebrating indoors.

Other tips for costumes are to avoid long trailing fabrics and overly flowing designs.

You can help keep children safe by Ensuring they are familiar with the ‘stop, drop, and roll’ technique in the event their costume does catch fire.
