Starting on Thursday, November 5, 2026, the CAL FIRE Lassen-Modoc Unit will be assisting a private landowner with a 109-acre prescribed
burn in the area of Richmond Rd and Mallery Ln.
The burn will be conducted only when weather and fuel conditions are favorable, ensuring a controlled and manageable prescribed fire.
Smoke may be visible in the Susanville area. Residents are reminded not to report smoke to 911 unless there is an actual emergency.
The burn will take approximately 2 hours to complete.
Project Objectives:
Reduce the presence of noxious weeds
Manage and reduce excess vegetation along Gold Run Creek
Range improvement
Minimize the risk of wildfire ignition and spread to nearby communities and ranchlands
