Susanville’s police department has been successful with recent enforcement operations through the Office of Traffic Safety funding, helping curb unsafe driving in city limits.
Over 2,000 from this latest round of funding the Sgt shared will be allocated to a new radar unit mounted into a patrol vehicle. At the same time, an additional 4,000 will be dedicated to officer training. The monies will enable multiple officers to be trained in field sobriety tests, advanced roadside impedance driving enforcement, and drug recognition.
The remaining funding will offset the costs of OT incurred to enforce the operations, which include a focus on primary collision factor operations, DUI enforcement, Distracted driving, and pedestrian safety.
This October’s award marks the third consecutive year Sgt Stafford has obtained the grant from the CA Office of Traffic Safety to improve safety on the roadway.
