Boil Water Notice Lifted in Loyalton

Loyalton’s water returns to be safe to drink.

The town was under a boil water notice since October 4th, when the water was shut off intermittently to make repairs to the main water line. Earlier in September, a leak in the main was discovered, spilling an Olympic-sized pool worth of water into the ground every week. Last Monday, contractors were finally brought in to make repairs. During the work, water had to be shut off, leading to confirmed water contamination. Homes were forced to drink water from bottles, boil their water, or fill up large containers from potable water sources outside the area for over a week.

The negative results came back earlier than projected, offering much relief to the city.
