The Modoc County District Attorney’s Office announces that on December 11th, 2025, defendant
Brian Widby was arraigned in the Modoc County Superior Court on an extensive list of felony charges.
The charges filed against Mr. Widby include:
PC 206- Torture
PC 273.5(a) – Corporal Injury to a Cohabitant
PC 245(a)(4) – Assault by Means Likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury (three counts)
PC 261(a)(2) – Forcible Rape
PC 286(c)(2)(A) – Forcible Sodomy
PC 287(c)(2)(A) – Forcible Oral Copulation
PC 289(a)(1)(A) – Sexual Penetration by Force (two counts)
PC 243.4(a) – Sexual Battery
PC 273a(a) – Child Endangerment (four counts)
PC 422(a) – Criminal Threats
PC 136.1(c)(1) – Dissuading a Witness by Force or Threat (two counts)
PC 236/237(a) – False Imprisonment
PC 69- Resisting an Executive Officer (two counts)
PC 664/187(a) – Attempted Murder
The complaint also includes several special allegations associated with these offenses.
At the arraignment, the Court ordered the defendant remanded without bail at the request of Modoc County District Attorney Nina Salarno, citing the seriousness of the allegations and risks to the victims as well as public safety. The Court additionally issued criminal protective orders on behalf of the victims.
