The Alturas Rotary Clubs have successfully collaborated to secure a Rotary District 5190 Grant aimed at enhancing the JLS Sale Barn. This matching grant involves a contribution of $5,000 from local Rotarians, with the district providing an additional $6,650 for local projects. Recent improvements included replacing old, rotten wooden posts with new panels that align with those previously acquired for the Junior Livestock Show. Additionally, Rotarians removed old woodchips, leveled the grounds, and tended to several trees around the facility.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our community and local businesses for their invaluable support in this endeavor. Special thanks to White Bear Construction, Modoc Steel, Cascade Fencing, C8 Metal, High Desert Lumber, and the Modoc Firesafe Council for their generous donations of time and materials.
We are currently working on processing enough woodchips for the sale barn floor and need your assistance! Please bring tree limbs to the northwest corner of the JLS arena (the arena with white fencing) located at the intersection of 8th and Nagle. Look for the yellow cones and bright colored flagging.
The Modoc Junior Livestock Show is scheduled for June 16-20, featuring various shows and activities throughout the week. The community BBQ and Livestock Sale will take place on Friday evening, June 20, in the sale barn. Join us in celebrating the longstanding tradition of the Junior Livestock Show, which has been a part of our community since 1948.
