Lassen Municipal is undergrounding power lines on Shaffer Mountain and you will not be able to access the area. LMUD will close Shaffer Mountain road near Litchfield starting Monday to complete the project that serves the communication site on the mountaintop.
You will encounter the closure from the junction with Highway 395 to the peak of the mountain. The closure will be in place during daylight hours through Friday. Crews will be removing an overhead power line and replacing it with a buried line along the road shoulder. That power line serves communication facilities such as cell towers and repeaters. Slight disruptions in transmissions will occur during the project.
