The Lassen National Forest has finalized the Over snow vehicle use trails project and enters into a 30day period before officially signed. After several years of beginning the process and considering the 16 objection letters and 73 issues with its initial draft, the national forest has come to a system of trails that expands what currently exists with consideration of the environment and animals that are in need of preservation. Nearly 750,000 acres will be opened to OSV use within the 6 designated areas totaling 65% of the national forest system lands. Those areas include Ashpan, Bogard, Fredonyer, Jonesville, Morgan Summit, and Swain Mountain. You can view the full details of the project by visiting the USDA Forest Service website.
