2500 Impacted by Planned Power Outage

Tomorrow you will be without power in La Porte throughout the day. PG&E has scheduled a planned power outage impacting 2,500 people in La Porte and northeast Yuba County from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Since the outage is occurring in the middle of intense heat throughout the region a cooling center will be open by the Yuba County Office of Emergency Services at the Ponderosa Community Center, in, Brownsville. Air conditioning, water, snacks, restrooms, and Wi-Fi will be available. You will also be able to charge your electronic devices. The outage is in an effort to perform safety and reliability work on transmission lines serving its Challenge substation and needs to de-energize the transmission power lines so crews can safely make improvements.

You should have already been notified by mail and phone of the planned outage.

PG&E has notified officials in Yuba County and emergency agencies to ensure they are prepared.
