The general manager for Chester’s Public Utility District says they are very disappointed in the Plumas Supervisors.

The disappointment followed the board’s decision to not agendize and approve CPUD’s two tax measures during the board’s January 16th meeting, to which GM Adam Cox said threw “more uncertainty at CPUD’s fire department woes.”

Though in open public comment, Cox told the supervisors he had discussed the upcoming tax measures with the elections office, has settled any disagreement, and will be moving forward with voter education, but not without emphasizing the board delayed the timeline by 3 weeks.

CPUD is banking on this extensive voter education leading up to the election, as Cox said these measures are “critical to the survival of Chester Fire Department,” which faces impending closure if they do not pass due to its significant lack of funding.
