Search Underway for Suspect in Susanville Gas Station Shooting

The Susanville Police Department is actively searching for a suspect after a young, unidentified person was taken to an outside medical facility for treatment of a severe head injury sustained during a shooting at the Spirit Gas Station on Main street.

The first 9-1-1 calls came in around 10 p.m. on Monday, reporting the shooting. Upon arrival, officers found the young victim along with bystanders and witnesses who stated that two groups had been involved in a fight that escalated into gunfire.

Lieutenant Stafford of the Susanville Police Department said there is currently no indication of gang affiliation for either group involved. He added that officers are actively following up on leads from witnesses and assured the public that there are no ongoing threats to the community, stating that residents should feel safe going out in the evening hours.
