The “Eternal Fire,” a vegetation fire that ignited yesterday afternoon near Eternal Springs Way and Standish Pit Road in Standish, has been fully contained. CAL FIRE’s Lassen-Modoc Unit reports that the blaze, driven by high winds, spread to 20 acres before fire crews halted its forward progress.
The fire briefly posed a threat to one nearby building, but responders successfully protected the structure, and no injuries were reported among civilians or firefighters. No structures were destroyed or damaged.
The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office advised residents to avoid Lake Leavitt Road, Eternal Springs Way, Standish Pit Road, Beckett Loop, Sierra Street, and Highway 395 near Standish during the incident.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
