Today and early this afternoon is your window to begin to get ready. Preparing by packing up those outdoor Halloween decorations and getting those nagging leaf piles you’ve been putting off out of the way would be a good start. This storm is also going to bring strong winds. Radar shows heavy rain and snow will begin to hit Susanville, Quincy, and surrounding areas by 3 pm. If traveling, the Reno National weather service says once this storm system hits, travel may be near impossible as the passes are expected to see nearly a foot of snow over 24 hours. The winter storm watch will be affected through tomorrow afternoon, with a break Thursday and Friday until another system moves in over the weekend.
