You can now be headed to court if your dog attacks, as Lassen’s supervisors, look to amend the county’s ordinance. The change was made to bring more teeth to the county law. County counsel says the new rule will remove the administrative process that was once difficult to set up and required a shorter response time of 48 hours. The supervisors approved it to be updated to require the matter to be brought to the court for more accessibility and accountability and to gain additional time for all parties involved. The ordinance must go through a second reading and approval before becoming effective. The Lassen County sheriff’s Office has additionally assumed the responsibility with the hire of an animal control officer.
