A 35 million dollar contract has been signed for a new Plumas District Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility. The contract will need to be processed through the USDA as the loan for the build is coming through the USDA to total nearly 28 million of those costs. The hospital’s Chief operating officer is hopeful that construction costs will go down with the bid-winning contractor, S&B James Construction already identifying millions in possible cost reductions. Yet prices continue to rise and an option to petition the USDA for additional funding is possible. The building will consist of a facility with a 22,000 sq foot footprint on just over 3 acres, accommodating 36 beds. The facility will be located on Bucks Lake Road near the existing hospital. The building is expected to be completed with an opening projected within the next two years.
