Shawn McKenzie, CEO of Seneca Hospital is turning the Hospital’s Emergency Room into a military style operation. Project Dust-off has been underway already and aims to provide a better experience and build confidence in patient care for the critical care hospital Seneca is in the rural county. Dust-off refers to the type of emergency military field care where helicopters land with patients, where doctors and nurses will perform life-saving care, and prep patients for transportation to out of the area hospitals for intensive, prolonged care. Much as the way hospitals in Plumas county operate already. Yet McKenzie’s goal is to continue to build upon the service already provided through education, updated medical equipment in the E.R. and more.
