Today children and their teachers will no longer be required to wear a mask when in their classrooms. The California Department of Public health will still highly recommend the use of a mask when indoors in these settings but the mandate to wear them has been lifted. It has been two years since the declaration of the COVID-19 global pandemic by the World Health Organization. Second graders across the world likely have little to no memory of days in school without COVID restrictions and protocols and, masks. Many have called for the unmasking of children ahead of the mask lift yet this group has been one of the last following the announcement to end mask mandates on February 28th.
