PG&E says to keep the lights on this Valentine’s Day by securing those holiday balloons. Last year Mylar balloons accounted for 5 power outages in Butte County, and 1 in Tehama County. The company urges you to secure those festive balloons with a weight to keep them from escaping your grasp. When the metallic balloons contact overhead power lines they can cause whole neighborhood outages and possible property damage and injury. The last year was a record high in over a decade for balloon caused outages. You can view safety tips at safetyactioncenter.pge.com
