Lassen NF Crews Conduct Prescribed Burns to Reduce Fuels and Protect Campgrounds

SHARE NOW
Lassen NF crews are taking advantage of recent precipitation, low temperatures, and appropriate relative humidity to conduct prescribed fire operations in two locations today – Almanor campground and Eagle Lake Ranger District office.
Almanor CG: Crews plan to burn up to 10 acres of hand piles, continuing the Rx work from the past couple of days to reduce excess fuels in these popular campgrounds.
Eagle Lake RD: Crews plan to burn up to 25 acres of hand piles near the Eagle Lake RD office.
How do we protect infrastructure during burns?
There are multiple engines on scene, ready to extinguish flare ups or creeping fires that get too close to resources, including campground infrastructure and large, older-generation, legacy trees.
 Smoke may be visible
– Around Lake Almanor and along Highway 89 for the Almanor CG piles
– Along Highway 36 near the Eagle Lake Ranger District office
