GRIZZLIES CROWNED 2026 NAL CHAMPIONS: Lassen Completes Perfect 4-0 League Run With Thrilling Senior Night Victory
SUSANVILLE, CA — The Lassen High School Grizzlies varsity football team officially stands atop the North Athletic League.
Completing an unblemished 4-0 run through league play, the Grizzlies locked up the 2026 NAL Championship on Friday night at Arnold Field with a heart-pounding 20-19 victory over the West Valley Eagles in front of a packed, roaring hometown crowd.
The championship victory marks an impressive late-season surge for Lassen, who rallied through a gauntlet of non-conference play early in the fall to dominant, disciplined football when league play arrived in October.
A Sweeping NAL Campaign
Lassen’s journey to the league crown was defined by explosive offense, relentless defensive pressure, and clutch performances down the stretch:
- Oct. 9 vs. Central Valley: The Grizzlies kicked off their NAL schedule in commanding fashion, dismantling Central Valley 56-6.
- Oct. 16 at Anderson: Lassen carried the momentum on the road, rolling past the Anderson Cubs 49-6.
- Oct. 23 vs. University Prep: In a crucial home showdown, the Grizzlies flexed their offensive muscle to pull away from U-Prep 41-21.
- Oct. 30 vs. West Valley: With the championship on the line, Lassen stood tall in a gritty, high-stakes battle, edging out West Valley 20-19 to seal the league title.
Standout Leaders
Key contributions across the board paved the way for Lassen’s championship run. Over the course of league play, standout players including Royce Waltman, Parker Langslet, Krush Costello, Nicholas Gomez, Easton Rollings, Troy Ross, and Colt Pendergast earned Player of the Game honors for pivotal playmaking on both sides of the ball.
Eye on the Postseason
With the North Athletic League title secured, Coach and the Grizzlies now turn their attention toward the CIF Northern Section Division III playoffs. Carrying a four-game win streak and the momentum of a league championship, Lassen enters postseason play as one of the section’s most formidable teams.
