The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) today announced that Chief Executive Officer Ian Choudri has tendered his resignation, effective immediately. The Board of Directors will convene an extraordinary session to name an interim Chief Executive Officer and establish a national search committee for a permanent successor.

During his two-year tenure, Choudri oversaw ongoing construction operations across the 171-mile initial segment in the Central Valley, guiding civil works progress and managing agency operations through a critical phase of heavy infrastructure deployment.

“We thank Ian for his service to the Authority and his dedication to advancing high-speed rail in California,” said the Board of Directors in a joint statement. “As we transition into this next chapter, the Authority remains fully committed to delivering a safe, modernized, and sustainable transportation network for the state of California.”

To maintain operational continuity and project momentum, the Authority’s executive leadership team will report directly to the Board of Directors on key civil engineering, regulatory, and administrative deliverables pending the appointment of interim leadership.

The Board of Directors is scheduled to discuss next steps regarding executive leadership during its upcoming public meeting. Further details regarding interim governance will be announced as they are finalized.
