Sierra County Sheriff’s deputies and Search and Rescue volunteers trained with Care Flight at Beckwourth Airport.
Care Flight aims to increase support for search and rescue missions in Sierra County. Recently, the helicopter helped in a medical emergency on the Pacific Crest Trail near Independence Lake. The aircraft landed close to the patient, speeding transport to the hospital while ground teams were still on the way. This cut the response time and helped the patient get medical care sooner.
Training focused on helicopter safety, understanding aircraft capabilities and limits, choosing safe landing zones, and proper ways to enter and exit the helicopter.
Care Flight can carry rescue teams, provide medical aid, and reach remote areas quickly. This resource will help the county handle emergencies more effectively.
The Sheriff’s Office values Care Flight’s partnership in protecting Sierra County residents and visitors.
