CAL FIRE and CDFW Scheduled Controlled Burn in Honey Lake Wildlife Area to Enhance Safety and Ecology

 The CAL FIRE Lassen-Modoc Unit will assist the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) with a controlled agricultural burn project in the Honey Lake Wildlife Area near Wendel.

​The prescribed burn is scheduled to take place on Monday, October 12, 2026, and Thursday, October 15, 2026, weather and fuel conditions permitting.

​The operation targets approximately 270 acres of flammable fuels to enhance local safety and restore regional ecological health.
