CAL FIRE will be conducting a 500 acre prescribed burn in the Butte Valley area off Red Rock Rd east of Macdole. Before ignition, crews completed a Go/No-Go checklist—assessing weather, fuel moisture, staffing, and safety conditions—to ensure all criteria were met.
For this operation, additional support came from U.S. Forest Service – Klamath National Forest, CAL FIRE Lassen-Modoc Unit for a Total of 7 fire engines, 1 water tender, 2 dozer, 3 hand crews, 2 UAS,1 helicopter and multiple overhead.
In addition to reducing hazardous vegetation, these prescribed burns provide firefighters with valuable live-fire training, helping them refine safe and effective fire suppression techniques.
Smoke will be visible from the Macdoel,Dorris, Tennant and Tulelake area depending on wind direction.
