PORTOLA, CA — Residents and visitors looking for a quiet moment outdoors have a new destination in Portola. The City has officially announced the opening of the “Mindful Pause” Yoga & Meditation Garden, a newly constructed outdoor space designed for reflection, movement, and connection with nature.
Situated along the banks of the Middle Fork of the Feather River under the Sierra sky, the minimalist space features a half-circle of stamped concrete ringed by locally sourced granite boulders. City officials highlighted that the layout was designed to be simple on purpose, offering visitors a place to roll out a mat, sit on a boulder, or simply watch the river.

Funding & Capital Costs
The project was made possible through state grant funding under California’s Proposition 68 program. Under the terms of the grant, the City of Portola is reimbursed for all eligible project costs.

While individual drop-in use is completely informal, the City has launched a dedicated reservation portal for fitness instructors, yoga teachers, and group event organizers who wish to host organized gatherings at the site.
