A swift interior fire attack by local emergency crews prevented major damage to a home in the 2900 block of Johnstonville Road, Friday, September 4th.

According to a press release from Susanville Fire Department Captain Leon Myers, firefighters arrived at the scene to find smoke pouring from multiple openings of the residence. Crews initiated an aggressive interior attack and quickly knocked down the flames before significant structural harm could occur.

An investigation following suppression efforts determined the fire originated from an appliance inside the home. Because of the rapid response and minimal damage, occupants were cleared to return to the residence shortly after the incident.

The Susanville Fire Department was assisted on scene by CAL FIRE, the Susanville Police Department, and the City of Susanville Public Works Department. No injuries were reported.
