Plumas County announces that the Feather River College Foundation and Plumas Arts are presenting Gallery of the Woods on Saturday, Sept. 26, bringing an immersive celebration of art, nature and community to Greenhorn Ranch, 2116 Greenhorn Ranch Road between Quincy and Blairsden.
Event starts at noon, with tours leaving at 1 – 2:00 p.m. Guests can enjoy exploring curated hiking routes where visual art, live music and performing arts installations are woven into the landscape.
Guests select a designated trail start time when purchasing their tickets. Much like a golf tee time, the selected time simply determines when guests begin their Gallery of the Woods experience; guests are welcome to stay and enjoy the event throughout the afternoon, say organizers.
This year’s optional artist theme, “Working Landscapes: Where Art Meets the Range,” invites artists to explore the relationship between people, nature, agriculture, labor and stewardship. Organizers say artwork and performances will be discovered throughout the ranch, creating an experience where the landscape becomes part of the gallery.
Throughout the event, guests can enjoy a silent auction and live music and performing arts, along with optional dinner, appetizers and refreshments available for purchase. A barbecue meal and no-host bar featuring local wine and beer will be available at the ranch for purchase. Dinner and refreshments are sold separately from Gallery of the Woods tickets.
Guests should come prepared for an outdoor hiking experience. Organizers encourage everyone to wear sturdy walking or hiking shoes or boots. Walking or hiking sticks may also be helpful for those who prefer additional support on the trails. Because some areas of the ranch and trails may be dusty, guests may also want to bring a mask or bandana for additional comfort.
Gallery of the Woods is a collaborative fundraising event benefiting the Feather River College Foundation and Plumas Arts, supporting their work in education, arts and community enrichment.
