PRESS RELEASE – Jet Ski Accident Highlights Importance of Life Vest Use
Stampede Reservoir, Sierra County
The Sierra County Sheriff’s Office is reminding everyone enjoying our lakes this summer that wearing a properly fitted life jacket can make the difference between life and death.
Earlier this morning, deputies and emergency responders were dispatched to a reported personal watercraft accident at Stampede Reservoir. The solo operator of a jet ski was thrown from the watercraft and knocked unconscious.
Fortunately, the operator was wearing a life vest. Although unconscious after entering the water, the life vest kept the individual afloat until they regained consciousness, preventing what could have easily become a fatal incident.
This accident serves as a powerful reminder that life jackets save lives!
