A rapidly growing wildfire burning in Lassen County prompted evacuation orders Tuesday evening for the community of Little Valley as firefighters worked to slow the fire’s advance toward the Pit River.

According to incident updates, the fire had grown to approximately 720 acres by 5:35 p.m. and was spreading at a moderate rate as it approached the Pit River.

The evacuation status escalated throughout the afternoon. Zone LAS-141, which includes the Little Valley area, was first placed under an evacuation warning shortly before 4:00 p.m. before being upgraded to an evacuation order at approximately 5:20 p.m. Residents in the area are urged to leave immediately.

An evacuation warning also remains in effect for Zone LAS-127B.

Fire behavior intensified rapidly during the afternoon. Around 4:30 p.m., incident commanders reported the fire had reached roughly 570 acres and was exhibiting severe spotting, with embers igniting new fires ahead of the main blaze. Officials warned the fire had the potential to make a significant run toward the Pit River.

To support suppression efforts, firefighters requested additional air tankers, four dozers, and night-flying helicopters capable of water drops after sunset. By early evening, two air tankers had been released from the incident, while ground resources continued to be reinforced.

Fire officials emphasize that mapped fire perimeters are preliminary and indicate only the general burned area. They do not reflect structure protection efforts, and properties located within the mapped perimeter may not be damaged.
