Construction of the new Lake Almanor Community Hospital is entering a new phase, with hospital officials saying the campus is expected to be nearly complete on the outside by the end of the summer.
In the latest construction update, Seneca Healthcare District CEO Shawn McKenzie said crews have made significant progress on the exterior of the facility. Curbs have been installed, roadways are being graded, rock work is underway, and siding is in its final stages. The emergency department parking lot is also taking shape as work continues around the campus.
McKenzie said the goal is to have the exterior about 99 percent complete by the end of August, allowing construction to shift almost entirely indoors. The project is expected to be “energized” by November, meaning electrical systems will be operational and crews can begin installing medical equipment and furnishings.
While the outside of the hospital is rapidly taking shape, officials estimate another six to seven months of interior work will be needed.
The district has been providing weekly video updates to keep the community informed on the project’s progress, which has steadily advanced throughout the spring and early summer.
The new hospital remains on schedule to open in the spring of 2027, replacing the district’s aging facility and expanding healthcare services for residents of the Lake Almanor Basin and surrounding communities.
