Plumas County Office of Education and Plumas Unified School District invite anyone interested in local education to consider serving on the school board. This election season, all five school board seats are open for reelection, providing a unique opportunity for community members to help shape the future of local schools, said PCOE.
No matter where residents live in Plumas County, their area school board seat will be on the Nov. 3 ballot. Residents can enter their address in the school board trustees map to determine which trustee area they live in.
PCOE/PUSD leaders invited the county elections office clerk/recorder, Marcy DeMartile, to present information and answer questions about the candidate filing process at the June 17 school board meeting, scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the county/district office, 50 Church St. in Quincy.
“If you are interested in serving your community and making a difference in local education, please join us at the meeting to learn about resources available for prospective candidates,” said Andrea White, PCOE superintendent.
The school board consists of five members who serve a four-year term, each representing a single-member district (trustee area). A school board member helps oversee the local school district by setting policies, approving budgets and making decisions that support student success. Board members work with district leadership, represent community interests and help ensure schools meet educational standards and goals.
Those with questions regarding candidate filing requirements or the election process can contact the Plumas County Elections Office by phone at 530-283-6256 or visit the county elections website.
