Every memorable postseason run has defining moments and defining performances.
For FRC Baseball’s historic journey to the 2026 3C2A Final Four, many of those moments came from the right arm of sophomore pitcher Tanner Hail.
When the Golden Eagles faced elimination during the postseason, Head Coach Terry Baumgartner repeatedly turned to Hail. Time and time again, the Reno, Nevada native delivered.
Hail started four postseason elimination games during the Golden Eagles’ remarkable playoff run, helping FRC advance to the Final Four and ultimately finish third in the State of California. The Golden Eagles won all four elimination games started by Hail, who posted a 3-0 record and a 1.69 ERA across 26.2 innings of work.
While each postseason performance was significant, none was bigger than his complete-game victory over West Valley College in the Northern California Super Regional.
With a trip to the 3C2A State Championship Tournament on the line, Hail delivered one of the most important pitching performances in program history. The sophomore right-hander scattered six hits and allowed just two runs over nine complete innings, leading the Golden Eagles to a 5-2 victory and sending FRC to the Final Four for just the third time in program history.
One week later, Hail again rose to the occasion on the biggest stage in California community college baseball.
Facing Ohlone College at the 3C2A State Championship Tournament, Hail worked into the seventh inning and earned the victory as the Golden Eagles defeated the Renegades 11-9. The win was historic, marking the first State Championship Tournament victory in program history and helping secure the highest finish ever achieved by FRC Baseball.
Over four postseason starts, Hail posted a 1.69 ERA while helping guide the Golden Eagles through the pressure and intensity of championship baseball. His ability to perform when the season was on the line became a cornerstone of one of the most successful seasons in FRC history.
Some players produce impressive statistics. Others create lasting memories.
For the Golden Eagles, Tanner Hail did both.
His postseason legacy will forever be linked to the historic 2026 season, a year that saw FRC reach the Final Four, earn its first-ever State Championship Tournament victory, and finish among the final three teams standing in California.
