Critical Incident Press Release
On Wednesday May 6, 2026, at approximately 0025 hours, Susanville Police Department personnel were involved in a critical incident at the 300 block of Richmond Road. During this critical incident an officer-involved shooting occurred. Law enforcement and medical personnel attempted lifesaving efforts but this subject succumbed to his injuries.
The Lassen County Law Enforcement Interagency Investigation Team has been activated to investigate this incident. Investigators are currently on scene, and the investigation is in its early stages. Currently there is a road closure in effect on Richmond Road from Riverside Drive to Cypress Street, please avoid this area.
Personnel involved in this critical incident have been placed on critical incident leave. As new information becomes available the Susanville Police Department will provide updates.
