Gordon Wilson
1952-2026

Gordon Wilson passed away unexpectedly April 8, 2026, at the age of 73. Born Sept. 20, 1952 in Alameda, California, Gordon was a resident of Plumas County for the last 53 years. He was a talented blues musician and a well-known fixture in the local music scene, playing in bands that include the Trash Gordon Band, Mud Bone, Hipshakers and the Boogiemen.

Gordon was a kind and generous person who was happy to help when he saw people in need. He was a hard worker who took his family responsibilities seriously. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service, Louisiana Pacific Corps, Sierra Pacific Industries and, most recently, before his retirement, Bertocchi Masonry.

His happy place was spending time in the woods hiking, hunting, cutting firewood and camping. He was an avid shooter and gun collector.

Gordon’s notable achievements include being crowned Hairiest Man in Greenville during the 1984 Gold Digger Days. Gordon had an incredible memory for jokes and was always willing to offer one up to make you laugh.

He was a husband, father, grandfather, a recent great-grandfather and a friend. Gordon is survived by his wife of 50 years, Liza; his sons, Joe (Ruthie), Sam, and James (Amy); 10 grandchildren, one great-grandson, and his brother Ed. Gordon was preceded in death by his mother Gladys, his father Frank, and his lifelong friend Joe.

There will be a celebration of his life May 9 at 2 p.m. at the Veterans Hall in Quincy. Several years ago, when asked what he would want as his eulogy, Gordon responded quickly with a grin, “Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust, Let’s Bury this Bozo and get on the Bus.”

Gordon will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
