During their March 25 meeting, Portola’s city councilmembers reviewed last year’s general plan progress report and considered the update process for the plan’s safety element.

During their individual updates, both Councilmember Lauren Miller and Mayor Pro Tem Mikki Battaglia admired upgrades at the Riverwalk, where the city’s public works department recently completed installation of three new water fountains.

The new facilities include bottle fillers and fountains at various heights — even fountains for pets. They are set on large concrete pads and compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, which allow users in wheelchairs to access each area.

The project used American Rescue Plan Act funding through a grant from the California Department of Parks and Recreation. All expenses to the city were reimbursed by the state.
