Cynthia Marie (Celaya) Raschein
1968-2026

Cynthia Marie (Celaya) Raschein passed away on February 20, 2026, after a short sudden bout with Covid 19. She was born in San Jose, CA, on September 11, 1968. She moved to Susanville in 1998 and began working for the Lassen County Planning and Building Department. After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree, she promoted within the Lassen County government system holding several positions over the course of her 28 year tenure, including Public Health Director from 2019-2023. Cynthia made life-long friendships with many of her coworkers. She was an avid gardener and a fantastic chef. She would spend the entire spring and summer in her garden, canning her veggies on the weekends and cooking delicious meals for her friends and family. Cynthia loved her sports! She was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, and passionate about the SF Giants and the Golden State Warriors. And she always had room in her heart and home for her favorite fur babies.

Cynthia left behind her husband of 19 years, Bob Raschein; three step children, Madelaine, Thomas and Morgan whom she helped raise as her own; and five grandkids: Sadie, Casey, Lottie, Winston, and Isla, who lovingly called her Grammy Cyn and were the absolute loves of her life. She also left behind her dad Guillermo Celaya and seven siblings: Christopher, Valerie, Barbara, Gabriel, Amy, Andrew and Robin, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mom Elvia Martinez Celaya.

A funeral service will be held on March 27, 2026, at the Central San Jose Seventh Day Adventist Church. Later, a Celebration of Life will be held on July 11, 2026, in Susanville.
