California Governor Newsom Announces August 4 Special Election for Congressional Seat

Newsom sets congressional special election for Aug. 4

California Governor Gavin Newsom yesterday issued a proclamation declaring a special election on Aug. 4, 2026 to fill the first congressional district seat left vacant due to the death of Congressman Doug LaMalfa, according to the governor’s website.
